Many of our customers have similar questions and concerns. Provided below is a list of frequently asked questions, and associated answers. Please contact us at info@agpak.com , if you have a question that has not been addressed.
1. How long has Ag-Pak been in operation?
Ag-Pak has been in operation for over forty (40) years providing equipment, support, service, and technical expertise to produce packaging operations.
2. Where is Ag-Pak located?
Ag-Pak is located in the northwest corner of Western New York, midway between Rochester and Niagara Falls, along the banks of the historic Erie Canal.
3. Why should I purchase my equipment from Ag-Pak?
Ag-Pak has over forty (40) years of experience in the handling, grading, weighing and packaging of produce. Each type and size of product has it's own characteristics and handling needs that cannot be learned from a book. No one becomes a farmer in a day; it is a long process in which the accumulation of knowledge and experience make the farmer a success. The same holds true for a manufacturer of produce handling equipment. We continue to update and improve our processes, incorporating the knowledge gained through first hand experience working with the customer. Ag-Pak has a mature, in-depth relationship with NEWTEC, allowing for outstanding customer support for their product lines. In addition, Ag-Pak has the capability to manufacture in-house, building equipment to customer specifications. Forty (40) years of experience with virtually every type of produce that can be packed has given us the confidence and knowledge to know what type of equipment you need and what will work.
4. Why should I purchase a NEWTEC weigher?
All NEWTEC equipment is designed for easy operation, troubleshooting, service, and repair. Featuring a stainless steel construction, over six thousand (6000) NEWTEC machines are in operation worldwide.
NEWTEC has an outstanding reputation for quality, and service. Founded by it's current owner Mr. Gunnar Petersen, NEWTEC produces most of their electronic components in house, ensuring that a ready supply of replacement parts is available for their full product line. It is not very reassuring to buy a piece of equipment knowing that the company that manufactured some of the electronic components may go out of business, or change the design, or simply stop producing the part. This scenario has unfortunately become the rule rather than the exception when dealing with electronics. In the last days of the available pieces the parts prices can climb to exorbitant levels. Eventually you end up with a machine that can no longer be repaired, and it is discarded like a VCR, TV, vacuum cleaner or microwave.
Properly maintained, NEWTEC machinery enjoys a long, low-maintenance, high-availability lifetime. Horror stories abound of some weigher manufacturers who that have produced very limited production runs of several different models, with few if any interchangeable components. As the part supply or service knowledge of these particular machine were exhausted, so was the life span of the equipment.
NEWTEC’s commitment to a long life machine design and parts availability alone tells you all you need to know about the company and the man who built his dream company from a garage to a new state-of-the-art production facility.
5. What is the standard warranty on equipment purchased from Ag-Pak?
Ag-Pak provides a standard one (1) year warranty for all new packing house equipment, covering all defective parts. The warranty period begins effective with machinery startup in the customer's facility. All defective parts must be returned to Ag-Pak Inc.
6. What actions may cause a warranty to become invalidated?
The warranty may be voided if the following conditions are not met: (a) Failure to adhere to the maintenance schedule guidelines as listed in the supplied machinery operator's manual. (b) Failure to use the machine in the context of operation that was agreed to in the purchase order. (c) Failure to provide adequate supply of clean, dry air to the machine for pneumatic operation. (d) Unauthorized modifications to the machine by the end user.
7. What are the standard payment terms on equipment purchased from Ag-Pak?
Standard payment terms consist of a 40% down payment, based on the total purchase order price, payable on receipt of a signed purchase order by Ag-Pak. An additional 30% is due at the time of machine installation within the customer's facility. The remaining 30% is due thirty (30) days after the startup of machine operations at your packing house.
8. Will I be charged for machinery installation? If so, how much?
Ag-Pak performs machine installation at no cost, unless otherwise noted in the purchase order agreement. Unlike our competitors who routinely charge between $4,000 - $8,000 dollars for installation, in addition to the cost of the machinery, Ag-Pak considers this a service to the customer. Ag-Pak personnel or Ag-Pak Dealer supplied personnel will assemble, test, and initiate operations of the equipment in a production environment, provided all feed systems, take-away systems, and product are present at that time.
9. Will Ag-Pak train my staff on proper machine operation?
Ag-Pak personnel will explain proper machine operation, troubleshooting and service techniques for all Ag-Pak-installed machinery. Operator manuals will be explained, and machine operators will also be trained, if available.
10. In what geographic regions does Ag-Pak sell and service equipment?
Ag-Pak provides equipment sales, service, and support throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Latin America.
